See you in 2026!
Thank you for an incredible day! Props to the young entrepreneurs who brought Lee Park to life with their creative booths.
The Great Yard Sale and Children’s Market is an inaugural celebration inspired by the Glebe yard sale in Ottawa and the Children’s market in VondelPark, Amsterdam. This exciting event will take place on the first Saturday after the Victoria Day long weekend, inviting the community to participate in a fun-filled day of sales and activities.
The Great Yard Sale
On the 1st Saturday following Victoria Day in May, residents are encouraged to host their own yard sales at home, creating a citywide shopping experience. It’s a great way to declutter, earn extra cash, and promote sustainability by giving pre-loved items a second life. Reusing and repurposing goods helps reduce waste and supports a more eco-friendly community.
The Children’s Market
Join us at Lee Park on May 24th for a fun-filled family event at the Children’s Market! Enjoy a day of shopping with unique children’s sales, explore creative crafts, and take part in exciting games and activities for all ages. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to support young entrepreneurs and create lasting memories with your family!

Vendors and visitors to the Children’s Market are asked to bring a non-perishable donation for the North Bay Food Bank. Participation is free for individual households.
Anyone in North Bay! Whether you’re a homeowner, renter, local business, or community group, you’re encouraged to take part.
Please bring cash—there are no ATMs in Lee Park.
Public washrooms will be open at Lee Park.
Parking at Lee Park is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. We encourage attendees to use public transit whenever possible.

Yes. When organizing a yard sale in Canada, it’s crucial to ensure that all items offered for sale comply with current safety standards and regulations. Certain products are prohibited from being sold, regardless of their condition or age.
Prohibited Items at Yard Sales:
Baby Walkers: Banned in Canada since April 2004 due to safety concerns.
Cribs Manufactured Before September 1986: Do not meet current safety standards and are illegal to sell.
Car Seats: Must have a compliance label indicating the appropriate height and weight of the child, include all straps and parts, and not have been involved in any accidents.
Baby Gates with Large Openings: Gates featuring large diamond-shaped or ‘V’ openings at the top pose entrapment hazards and are prohibited.
Infant Self-Feeding Devices: Devices that allow infants to feed themselves without supervision are banned due to choking risks.
Lawn Darts with Elongated Tips: These pose significant injury risks and are illegal to sell.
Cosmetics: Used, old, or damaged cosmetics should never be sold as they may contain harmful bacteria and lack proper labeling.
Children’s Sleepwear: Loose-fitting sleepwear made from cotton or cotton blends may not meet flammability requirements and should not be sold.
Toys with Small Parts or Magnets: Toys that are broken, have sharp edges, or contain small parts or magnets can pose choking hazards and should be avoided.
Safety Tips for Sellers:
Check for Recalls: Before selling any item, verify that it hasn’t been recalled by checking Health Canada’s Recalls and Safety Alerts database.
Inspect Items Thoroughly: Ensure that all products are free from damage, have all necessary parts, and include instructions if applicable.
Avoid Selling Hazardous Materials: Do not sell items containing hazardous chemicals, such as certain household cleaners or pesticides.
By adhering to these guidelines, you help ensure the safety of your customers and comply with Canadian regulations. For more detailed information, consult Health Canada’s Garage Sale Safety Tips.
